The profession of a dispatcher is multifaceted and unpredictable, so working days may vary. At any moment, a situation may appear that needs to be promptly resolved, but still there is some consistency.
⠀
1. Check email. This is how the dispatcher’s working day begins. You need to check if nothing happened during your absence from the workplace.
⠀
2. Calling drivers. You need to make sure if everything is good on the road, in a pickup or delivery.
⠀
3. Cargo search. This is the main task of the dispatcher. We will not go deep into how exactly this happens. We talk about this in detail on the course “Truck Dispatcher Training”
⠀
4. Transfer of information about the load to the driver. This happens after you have found the cargo and received all the necessary documents.
⠀
5. Search for cargo for tomorrow. You can do this to make it easier for yourself the next day.
⠀
6. At the end of the working day – calling drivers. You need to make sure that everything is fine and then finish your working day.
⠀
This schedule can be adjusted depending on external factors – weather conditions, traffic situation. You need to resolve such moments quickly, and react quickly.
